Dr. MUNYANDAMUTSA Philippe, PhD in Aquaculture and Fisheries

Dr. Munyandamutsa Sanzira Philippe is a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Rwanda (UR), College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, School of Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, in Animal Production Department. He is an Associate Researcher in the Center of Excellence of Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resources Management (CoEB/UR).
Dr. Munyandamutsa is the Team Leader of Fish Taxonomy and Conservation in the CoEB/UR.
He has a PhD in Aquaculture and Fisheries, a degree obtained in 2022 from the Africa Center of Excellence of Aquaculture and Fisheries of Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Malawi). He obtained his Msc. in Ecology and Technology of Water Continental, in Namur University (Belgium) in 2005.
His researcher interest focuses on fish production, fish genetic improvement and health of the Tilapia in ponds and cage farming in Lakes. He works also on Cichlid fishes’ phenotypes related-habitat lakes, their adaptation to different lakes habitats towards the anthropogenic activities and climate change.
His research focuses as well as on fish diversity, ecology and assessment of the threatens level of fishes in aquatic systems ; and identifying endangered fish species and their restoration by aquaculture conservation.
