The University of Rwanda-College of Agriculture Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (UR-CAVM) participates in the Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) Exhibition organized by High Education Council (HEC) from 7th to 12th May 2023 at Kigali Conference& Exhibition Village.

The HLIs Exhibition and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) competition bring together all HLIs as well as other stakeholders in education to promote the HLIs’ s involvement in research and innovation, improving thus the provision of suitable higher education in Rwanda.
The purpose of the research and innovation exhibition is to increase the public’s access and awareness of higher education services especially research and innovation, provided by various higher learning institutions in Rwanda. In addition, there is STEM competition of pre-selected projects which provides a platform for staff and students to apply their STEM knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios, enhance collaboration and team work, and promote competition between institutions as well.

During the HLIs Exhibition 2023, UR-CAVM exhibits its academic programs such as under graduate and post graduate programs. Some departments of Food Science and Technology, Agriculture Mechanization and Animal Production exhibits different products such as : Juices, jam, flour and bakery, some machines used in agriculture and organic fertilizer from worms. During STEM competition also, UR-CAVM will present two projects. One project on “Hinga Neza Mobile app” which provides information about soil condition and crop diseases, location of professional agronomists as well as the period of harvesting.

The other project on “Integration of urban organic waste stream into integrated Agriculture” which aims to convert waste into valuable products such as organic fertilizers, animal feeds and addressing green house gas, pollution and waste management cost.
