Today 10 May, 2018, the Reducing Postharvest Losses in Rwanda Project (RPLR) working under UR-CAVM launches a 2 days training of trainers workshop of 30 modelsfarmers of fruits and vegetables from Busogo sector, Musanze district. The aim of this training is to gain understanding of postharvest losses causes, constraints and opportunities in identified horticultural crop value chains and determine the benefits of introducing appropriate postharvest practices and technologies for reduction of post-harvest losses along the value chain.
As highlighted by Dr. Hilda Vasanthakaalam the project’s principal investigator, through this training, farmers will get more knowledge and hands on skills through lecturers, sharing of experience through groupdiscussion sessions anddemonstration of modern equipment (such as cooling chamber and ZECC) and other materials available at PTSC to be used by beneficiaries for reducing of postharvest losses of their horticulture crops.The training is taking place at Postharvest Training and Services Center, UR-CAVM (Busogo campus).
