First launch of UR-CAVM Incubation Program

The university of Rwanda- College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (UR-CAVM) through its Career Guidance Center based in Busogo Campus in collaboration with Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF) start a strategic Operationalization Plan and Action Plan by launching an incubation program which will help students to move from UR-CAVM Career centers where they get business ideas to the Incubation Center with sustainable and profitable ventures.

In his welcome remarks Dr. Guillaume NYAGATARE, the Ag. Principal thanks RAYF for partnering with UR-CAVM through such collaboration as the first College in UR. He also mentions that the partnership will provide an interdisciplinary entrepreneurship support to students, in teaching, research and business support services. It stimulates academic and industry collaboration, thus increasing the reputation of the University of Rwanda locally and globally. He also congratulates students with 10 first projects and urges them to work hard so as to hasten the country’s agriculture growth. “As a University, this is to learn with our commitment to guide students to create jobs instead of seeking them, indeed the purpose of envisage youth in Agribusiness incubators is accelerating sustainable growth of Rwanda startups especially Agriculture Industry in order to produce strong and sustainable companies that can leave the incubator financially viable” Said Dr. NYAGATARE.

The representative of Envisage Youth Agribusiness Incubator Program from RYAF, Mr Patrice HABINCUTI explains that the graduate innovator and the agriculture industry creates jobs to strengthen Rwandan economy. He adds that collaborating with UR-CAVM is to empower selected students to shape the generation of Rwandan young entrepreneurs who will take agribusiness to the next step and create new jobs. He also indicates high employment numbers of graduate students and the need of this program which will help students to think about what they can do while they are still at university.
Team leaders for 10 selected projects will gain the followings : Having a space to work from, internet, access to mentoring, having access to the bank credit and coaching market linkages for free to allow students to progress to the next step
