UR DVC IA commends UR-CAVM achievements amid his visit to Busogo Campus

The University of Rwanda’s Deputy Vice Chancellor Institutional Advancement (DVC IA ) Amb. Dr. Charles Murigande paid a short visit to the College Academic Council of the College of Agriculture, Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM) on Friday, 5th January, 2018.

In her welcome remarks, the Principal of CAVM Dr. Laetitia Nyinawamwiza welcomed the DVC-IA and assured him to have a standing invitation as the focal person of CAVM in the Senior Management. Murigande wished a happy new year to CAC Members and expressed his appreciation on what CAVM is doing and commended the college’s compliance in terms of responsiveness and services delivery.

He affirmed that CAVM is exemplary and encouraged the management to never tire in doing what is advantageous to the development of Rwanda, with this he quoted the epistle of Paul to the Ephesians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if do not lose heart”. He further emphasized that his visit is part of the Senior Management’s vow to regularly visit colleges and campuses in order to interact with staff and students; familiarize hence serving for a shared aim and mission.

The visit coincided with the arrival of Confucius Institute delegation headed by the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Rwanda Dr. Mark Zhang who were visiting CAVM to assess the ongoing lectures of the Chinese language and culture to staff and students of the College.

It is worth recalling that in November, 2017, the Confucius Institute upon the request of the CAVM Management extended its services to staff and students of the CAVM in the framework of empowering them with 21st century communication skills that requires multilingualism in order to prosper and flourish in this faster globalized and developing world.

The University of Rwanda endeavors to providing Rwanda with a fit for purpose workforce, mostly composed of job creators instead of job seekers. Therefore, the DVC-IA applauded the services offered by the Confucius Institute (CI) and urged CI to operate throughout all UR Colleges in order to equip UR students with Chinese language and culture which can enable them to link up with Chinese Universities for scholarships and capacity building trainings, get employed by Chinese companies.

The Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Rwanda Dr. Mark Zhang promised continued and extended fruitful exchanges beyond teaching the Chinese language and culture. He said that China has now opened to the world, to share its expertise and technology to other nations. He emphasized the good diplomatic relationship between Rwanda and China that paves way to different beneficial opportunities.
